I’m not sure what the firmware version should be right now for the Nokia Lumia 800 since the one I have isn’t the retail version, so what I’m getting might just be what you guys already have.
But my handset only got the notification for an update just now to 7.10.7740.16 which is what my Omnia 7 got updated to (just a week after I got Mango) – (I was just charging it from my laptop and the notification appeared. Not sure when it was released)
This is therefore not the update that brings the battery bug fixes.
I think it might be a good time to take a tour again of the update process in Windows Phone when it arrives on your Nokia Lumia. If you didn’t catch my NoDo update pics before, check this out. If you have or are already familiar, the update process is identical.
Essentially despite all the screenshots, it’s just plug in, wait, done.
To check your device firmware just go to settings>about>more information
To see updates, go to settings>phone updates
Alternatively go to Zune then Phone>Settings>Updates (it’s terribly long winded. There should be a more direct update button)
Whilst you’re phone is updating do not touch it. Leave it alone. Go make a coffee. Even if it says it’s done or tries to restart. Ignore it. Wait until Zune says it’s done.
Your phone will shut down (it will say ‘goodbye’) and then you’ll notice some diagrams on the screen. That’s normal. But ignore that and leave your phone alone.
Note your PC might say it’s installing SEARAY. Nice to see that name pop up again.
There’s a progress bar at the top of the phone itself as well as the software on the PC. The backup process is already one of these steps.
P.S. Lumiappaday is still coming. I’m just having an issue uploading the video today because YouTube decided it will suck today.
